Animal cells are remarkable, tiny building blocks. Think of a 1 mm grain of sand. More than 200 red blood cells could fit inside that grain. Animal cells share many features with plant cells, such as the nucleus, cytoplasm, endoplasmic reticulum, ribosomes, and mitochondria. Think of it this way: cells and their organelles allow animals to grow, eat, reproduce, and even think.
